When to choose Luk Pra Kob

Like every service on our menu, Luk Pra Kob has an intention that is purposeful for body ache’s and pains that also has a special need: dealing with soreness and stiffness. Choose this massage for therapeutic relief, arthritis, sore muscles or tenderness.

A special massage process that is centuries old

The Luk Pra Kob massage technique and has been used for over 400 years in Thailand, and Anjou Spa is very excited to be offering it here and now. This special technique focuses on purification, increasing energy flow, and circulation. Heated Thai compresses containing specific purifying herbs selected for their detox properties are used in this treatment to gently (but effectively) massage all the tension and toxins you are holding onto.

These rare compresses become the tool of your massage therapist as they knead, stretch, and soothe your body. Herbs included in the compresses are selected for their detoxification and anti-inflammatory properties. Anjou Spa’s Thai compresses contain plai, which is in the same plant family as ginger but produces a cooling effect. Plai treats muscle inflammation and is used for pain management. Other herbs include turmeric for its anti-inflammatory and detox properties, lemongrass and bergamot for antioxidants and pain relief, and tamarind leaves for healing and additional antioxidants.

This intensive treatment is ideal for prolonged stress in the neck or shoulder area, stiff joints that have been agitated by the cold winter air, and any other conditions that need deep work but are tender to the touch. This massage will help your body let go of all the tension, additives, and stressors that have been building up over the long months of winter. Luk Pra Kob finishes with special attention on the feet with a Thai stick treatment that helps to release adhesions in the foot.

Continue your relaxation process at home

You won’t go home empty-handed. Your massage therapist will send you with your compresses for additional use at home. Add the compresses to a bath or make a strong tea by boiling them for 10 minutes and add that to your bath water.
