Sugaring in Bend Anjou Spa
Sugaring Is Better Than Waxing – Here’s Why

Why sugaring?

As you may know, Anjou has offered waxing services for years, but we’re *SO* excited to switch to sugaring. We’ve been training all summer to get our esthetician team ready to roll out this new service in October. Sugaring is an all-natural way to get superior waxing results and is a less uncomfortable process. Why switch…why not!? Anjou is always looking for ways to improve our clients’ experiences and this aligns with our values.

What is sugaring?

Sugaring is a method of hair removal that uses a sugar paste applied to the skin. The sugaring paste sticks to your unwanted hair and only to dead skin cells, which is why this process is so much more comfortable than waxing. Once the paste cools, instead of pulling the hair in the opposite direction of hair growth, the sugar paste pulls in the direction of the hair growth. This prevents hair “breaking” off in the follicle which is what creates ingrown hairs and uneven hair growth.

Traditional waxing can cause burns from heated wax, while sugaring is done with a lukewarm mixture. Waxing also pulls at everything it sticks to – which includes skin! Sugaring uses a smaller molecule, so there is no lifting of the skin and therefore less irritation and pain. This process creates longer lasting results and smooth exfoliation of the skin.

Sugaring Pros:

  1. Pulls in direction of hair growth, eliminates ingrown and uneven hair
  2. Paste is gentle on skin and reduces discomfort and irritation
  3. Longer lasting and superior results
  4. All-natural formula

The Anjou Spa process:

We’ve completed our sugaring certification and training and are so proud to bring this service to our clients and spa members. Anjou uses Tamara’s Professional Body Sugaring products, which are an all-natural, USDA certified organic, and fair trade line.

By properly preparing the skin and hair, we offer a gentle, effective alternative to waxing that we know you’re going to love. Plan on having hair that is at least a ¼” inch long for an effective treatment. While this process is gentler than waxing, keep in mind that your skin will need time to rest, so avoid exfoliation treatments, time in the sauna, and very hot showers for 48 hours after your treatment.
